What you can build
Most projects on the Shepherd API come down to moving data in or out of a clinic’s records, then acting on it in another system. Here are the patterns we see most often.
Reporting and analytics
Section titled “Reporting and analytics”The most common use. Pull appointments, invoices, payments, patients, and clients out of Shepherd on a schedule to build custom dashboards, financial reports, or a data feed your own tools read. See Invoices, Payments, and Appointments.
Appointment sync
Section titled “Appointment sync”Keep a clinic’s schedule in step with an external booking tool, a reminder service, or your own product. Appointments are one of the most-integrated resources, on both the clinic side and the partner side. See Appointments.
Client outreach
Section titled “Client outreach”Export client (pet-owner) and contact data into a marketing or CRM tool to run outreach outside the platform: sync your client list into a campaign tool, then send reminders or follow-ups from there. See Clients.
Inventory and prescriptions
Section titled “Inventory and prescriptions”Read and write inventory levels, or wire prescription workflows into a pharmacy or fulfillment partner. See Inventory, Products, and Prescriptions.
Multi-location reporting
Section titled “Multi-location reporting”Operators running several clinics as a group can roll data up across locations: check whether an account is multi-site, then read shared records once rather than per clinic. See Groups and multi-site.
Where to go next
Section titled “Where to go next”- New to the API? Start with the Introduction and Authentication.
- Wondering about cost and access? See Pricing & access.
- Building a product other clinics will enable? See Integration onboarding.
